PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State College Panthers swept a softball doubleheader from the University of Southern Maine here Friday with a 10-2 win in the first game and an 8-7 victory in the second.
In the first game, Kim Dumont doubled and singled for five RBIs to lead Plymouth State to the win.
For 6-4 Plymouth State, Kristen Hodgdon, Jodi Gleason, Betsy Bruce, and Michelle Borgoyne each singled twice. Karyn Misenheimer (3-1) notched the win.
For the 6-6 USM Huskies, Lisa Farr and Stacey Marotta each had two hits and an RBI. Marotta doubled. Julie Bernier had a double and a single.
In the second game, Gleason hit a one-out single in the bottom of the eighth to score Steph Yeager with the game-winning run for the Panthers.
Gleason also doubled and hit another single for three total hits. Hodgdon, Burgoyne, and Yeager had two hits apiece. Kim Bastille (2-2) notched the complete-game victory.
For Southern Maine, Shaw, Marotta, Farr, and Shellee Clement each hit two singles.
