Lubec meeting focus is tourism

LUBEC — Any business or individual interested in promoting tourism in Washington County is invited to an informal public meeting sponsored by the Lubec Chamber of Commerce at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the Home Port Inn in Lubec. John Johnson, a member of Maine’s Office of Tourism, will conduct the meeting.

According to Dianne Tilton, director of the Machias Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Johnson is visiting the area “to learn about features he can market through his position as writer for the Office of Tourism.”

Tilton believes that Johnson’s visit “will educate him as well as ourselves. We can learn from John how to best promote our own businesses and perhaps generate ideas for potential businesses.”

The public is invited to attend the meeting.
