I always read John Day’s column so I can keep up with what the right wingers are up to, and also because once in a while he’s coherent and readable. His latest effort (May 2-3) is, in my opinion, not one of those times and I really don’t know what his main point is.

It almost seems to be that the administration should start another war (Iraq II? Libya? Sierra Leone?) “…to submerge these (racial) problems.”

However, I agree with one of his points, that the L.A. riots give “…Bush another national crisis to put himself at center stage.” But don’t they also spotlight the administration’s lack of leadership on racial issues? And ditto for the Reagans? But maybe John will address that issue next week. Hopefuly, as he says. George Lehigh Easport
