PRESQUE ISLE — Stan Willenbring, a graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle, has been named the 1992 Ryan Fellow in physiology at Darmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H.
The former Westfield resident graduated from UMPI in 1990 and is pursuing a doctorate in medical physiology at Dartmouth.
Willenbring is conducting research into the causes of changes in the nervous system which produce abnormal or intractable pain, such as that experienced by patients following amputations or severe injuries or some forms of cancer.
