BELFAST – Belfast improved its schoolboy baseball record to 10-4 here Monday with a 9-3 victory over Mount View of Thorndike.
Bob Withee doubled and singled for the Lions, while Kurt Payson singled twice and winning pitcher Cliff Littlefield hit a two-run single.
For the 4-7 Mustangs, Jeb Furbush doubled and singled. Wally Furrow and Josh Hubbard each singled twice.

The 2-10 Tigers got a triple from Brian McKenney, a double from Kirby Reardon and a single from John Watson as their only hits off Deron Smith, and Trent Smith who finished up in the seventh.

VAN BUREN – Jason Poitras’ one-out squeeze bunt delivered Jay Amato in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Van Buren a 6-5 come-from-behind schoolboy baseball victory over Community of Fort Kent here Monday.
Amato had walked and moved to third on two wild pitches before Poitras bunted him home. Poitras pitched 2 2/3 innings of no-hit, shutout relief ball, striking out four and not walking anybody, to notch the win.
Jeff Kaleta hit a two-run single in the three-run fourth inning for 5-7 Van Buren and scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Ted Smith hit a solo homer for the Crusaders and Tom Power had a run-scoring single.
Aaron Berthiaume had a solo homer and a single and two RBIs for the 6-7 Warriors.

At Houlton, Heath Gentle allowed four Presque Isle runs in the first three innings before settling down to pitch no-hit ball the rest of the way as the Shiretowners upset the visiting Wildcats.
Houlton, 6-8, exploded for five runs in the fourth inning highlighted by doubles from Gentle, Joey Sewell and John Melton. Gentle went 3-for-4 with five RBIs while Corey Suitter drove in two runs.
Jay Haywood was the only repeat hitter for the 11-3 Wildcats with two singles. James Lawler took the loss.

Josh Cullins belted a two run homer in the fourth inning for the 6-3 Cougars. Jason Qualey singled, doubled and drove in two runs, while Adam Curtis and Randy Cyr each singled twice.
Ashland, 7-6, got two hits apiece from Rick Caron, Josh Ash and loser Aaron MacLean. The Hornets loaded the bases in the sixth inning with nobody out but McNally rebounded to strike out the the next three Ashland batters.

At Deer Isle-Stonington Saturday, Jonesport-Beals pitchers Shawn Johnson and Joe Moores each hurled a one-hitter, lifting the Royals to 17-0 and 4-2 victories over the Mariners.
In the opener, Johnson struck out 15 batters and belted a two-run homer to help his cause for the 8-2 Royals. Darren Alley homered and singled (two RBIs) and Elliott Peabody doubled and singled.
The 1-8 Mariners were paced by Corey Webb, who doubled.
In the second game, Moores fanned 16 Mariner hitters. Mike King socked a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie and provide the winning run.

At St. Agatha on Saturday, the host Pioneers rallied for five runs in the seventh to defeat the Owls.
Glen Paradis cranked a solo homer for the 7-6 winners to back pitcher Chad Hanlin, who scattered seven hits. Jamie Guerrette chipped in with a double and single and Eric Bouchard doubled.
Jim Keller singled twice and drove in a run for the 2-9 Owls.

EAST MILLINOCKET – Jason Miles belted a homer and three singles, driving in five runs and powering Piscataquis Community to a 21-6 schoolboy baseball win over Schenck Monday.
Argo Regan had three singles and three RBI for the 9-5 Pirates of Guilford, while Anthony Licata doubled and singled twice for two RBI. Pitcher Curtis Graffam went the distance.
For Schenck, 0-11, Tony Gantnier doubled and singled. Ray Houston tripled.

At Lee, Ron Coombs extended his hitting streak to eight hits in his last eight at bats Monday while also pitching the Lee Panadas past the Penobscot Valley Howlers of Howland.
Coombs went 3-for-3 with two singles and a two-run homer to go with a 4-for-4 in his last game and a hit in his last time up the game prior to that. Coombs raised his mound mark to 5-0 with a solid stint, allowing one hit while striking out eight in four innings.
Jamie Phelps had a sizzling plate performance for the 12-1 Pandas with six RBIs on a 3-for-3 day which included a three-run homer, a two-run homer, and an RBI single.
Mike Noble had a solo HR and single and Steve Coombs a double and single for Lee.
The Howlers, 4-9, got a leadoff single from Jemery Durost and a sixth-inning single by Craig Dube.

PCHS sweeps PVHS
At Howland on Saturday, Piscataquis Community of Guilford came up with seventh-inning rallies in both games while sweeping host Penobscot Valley.
In the first game, Anthony Licata smacked a three-run home run in the seventh to lift the 8-5 Pirates to a 19-18 victory. In game two, Craig Bryant led off the ninth inning with a pinch-hit double, stole third and scored on a wild pitch to cap PCHS’ 7-6 win.
In the opener, Licata paced the Pirates with the homer and a single, and Carl Larson rapped a solo homer and a single. Adam Shearer, Jason Miles, Matt Thomas and Kam Kimball contributed two hits apiece behind relief winner Jason Miles.
Carlton Thurlow knocked in five runs with three singles for the 4-8 Howlers, while Jason Leveille had a three-run homer and a double. Rob Paradis singled three times, with Ryan Reed and Craig Dube adding two hits each.
In the nightcap, Jim Audibert and Paradis stroked three-run homers in the sixth to tie it 6-6, only to have the Pirates rally behind Bryant.
Shearer singled three times and went the distance for PCHS, while Licata had a single and two RBIs.
