This letter is written in response to an article in the Midweek edition of May 20.
Dirigo Search and Rescue Association of Orono, after 20 years, is appealing to the general public for donations to construct a building to store their equipment. As a member of the Bangor-Brewer Composite Squadron, Maine Wing, Civil Air Patrol, I can understand their concern for this much-needed building for their equipment and meeting place. They are a non-profit organization who for 20 years have assisted the general public in search and rescue missions in which there is no charge.
I challenge all companies, both industrial and commercial, as well as the general public, to send a donation to this outstanding and worthwhile organization. Let us now help them, so that they may continue to help us. Please send your donations to Dirigo Search and Rescue Association, P.O. Box 23, Orono 04473. Walter E. Wyman Hermon
