Two defending Eastern Maine tennis champions have defeated all comers thus far in the postseason and, on Wednesday afternoon, will look to defend their crowns.

The Camden-Rockport Windjammers, schoolboy champions in the EM Class B ranks a ye`B” girls ranks last season, advanced into Eastern Maine finals Saturday after posting semifinal victories, highlighting second-round team tennis action around the state.

Top-ranked Camden-Rockport (11-0) shut out fourth-ranked Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 5-0 and will next square off against third-seeded Foxcroft Academy (13-1), a 3-2 winner over second-seeded Ellsworth, for the regional title.

The Warrior girls, seeded third at 12-2, edged second-ranked Dexter by a 3-2 score and will defend their title against top-ranked Mount Desert Island, an 5-0 winner over fourth-ranked Ellsworth.

Second-seeded Brunswick (10-1) edged No. 3 Old Town by a 3-2 score to advance to the Class A regional final, where the Dragons will face No. 4 Cony of Augusta. The No. 2 Gardiner girls, meanwhile, posted a 3-2 victory over No. 3 Waterville and will next face top-ranked Caribou. Cony and Caribou had qualified in semifinal matches on Friday.

In the Class C ranks, third-seeded Calais (8-3) traveled to Veazie to upset second-seeded John Bapst of Bangor by a 4-1 score and will face top-ranked Schenck of East Millinocket, a 4-1 winner over Penobscot Valley of Howland, for the regional crown.

Penobscot Valley’s girls team did qualify for a regional final as the Howlers defeated Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln 4-1. Up next for top-ranked PVHS will be a championship match against Penquis League rival Schenck of East Millinocket, a 3-2 upset winner over second-seeded Woodland.

The EM Class A championship matches will take place Wednesday at Waterville High School at 3 p.m. with the Class B (3 p.m.) and Class C (4:30 p.m.) matches taking place at the University of Maine courts in Orono.
