HAMPDEN — It was an unlucky night for two motorists and a bad night for a moose Wednesday.
Two motorists received minor injuries after striking the same moose, which had wandered out on Interstae 95 Wednesday night.
Kathleen Hilliard, 33, of Carmel, was driving southbound on the interstate near Dysart’s when she collided with a 700-pound moose. Hilliard was not hurt, but a passenger in Hilliard’s van, Lenny Mahn, 35, address unknown, received minor neck and back injuries. He was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where his condition was uncertain at press time.
The moose then skidded down the interstate, only to be run over by Jane Carnabuci, 41, of Palmyra. The impact sent Carnabuci’s car sliding on its side, although it returned upright, state police said. Carnabuci’s daughter, Caryn, 14, received a minor head injury and was not treated, officials said.
The moose died.
