DOVER, N.H. – Several members of the Hurricane Swim Club from Bangor-Brewer notched some first-place finishes at the Seacoast Swimming Association Summer Invitational swim meet here Saturday through Monday. More than 4,000 swimmers from all over the country competed in the meet.

DOVER, N.H. – Several members of the Hurricane Swim Club from Bangor-Brewer notched some first-place finishes at the Seacoast Swimming Association Summer Invitational swim meet here Saturday through Monday.

More than 4,000 swimmers from all over the country competed in the meet.

In the ages 8-under division, Sabattus O’Connell won the boys 50-meter freestyle and 50 breaststroke with times of 41.56 and 57.41 seconds, respectively. He finished second in the 50 butterfly and third in the 50 backstroke.

In the girls 9-10 class, Becky McLeod was second in the 50 butterfly, third in the 50 breaststroke, fourth in the 100 butterfly, and sixth in the 100 breaststroke and 100 free.

Heather Babcock and Cara Malerba placed in the girls ages 13-14 division. Malerba won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:20.39 and the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:57.46. She also was second in the 100 senior girls breaststroke and sixth in the senior girls 200 breaststroke.

In the 13-14 boys group, Josh Schwartz won the 100 freestyle (59.35), 100 backstroke (1:08.98), and the 200 backstroke (2:30.68). He finished second in the 200 free. Chris Fogg was third in both the 100 and 200 backstroke, and sixth in the 200 and 200 free.
