BALTIMORE — A jury on Thursday awarded $11.2 million in compensatory damages to three so-called “sample” plaintiffs in the nation’s largest consolidation of asbestos personal injury cases.
The Baltimore Circuit Court jury ruled that three other sample plaintiffs were not entitled to damages because they were not injured by the asbestos products.
The six sample plaintiffs had been chosen by attorneys for both sides to determine whether damages were warranted for any of the plaintiffs. The three who were determined not entitled to damages had been chosen by the defense.
The same jury had ruled July 13 that the companies were negligent and liable in the case.
