2 doctors join staff at hospital

SKOWHEGAN — Two new physicians have joined the medical staff at Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan.

Dr. Krishna M. Bhatta, a urologist, will begin seeing patients in August. His wife, Dr. Nayantara (Lehka) Bhatta specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, and will begin her practice in October.

Dr. Krishna Bhatta recently completed a three-year research fellowship at Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine and the Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Lehka Bhatta is completing her clinical fellowship in the department of gynecology, also at Massachusetts General.

Both doctors have had a wide range of experience in their respective fields before coming to Boston in 1988. Dr. Krishna Bhatta is a well-respected researcher and inventor and has lectured in Japan, Canada and extensively throughout the United States. In 1989, he was recognized by the American Lithotripsy Society for the best research in lithotripsy. He was honored by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery in 1991, and received second prize at the American Urology Association 1991 conference in Toronto.

The Bhattas are interested in patient education and plan to establish a comfortable, personal approach with their patients.
