Old-fashioned crusade planned at Trenton tent

TRENTON — Newport evangelist Wendell Calder will lead an old-fashioned tent crusade Sunday Aug. 2 through Sunday Aug. 9 on Route 3 in Trenton near the Cannon Towel outlet.

Services on both Sundays will be held at 2:30 p.m. and services Monday through Saturday at 7 p.m. A nursery for young children and a separate crusade for children between 5 and 12 will be provided during the main crusade. The children’s crusade will feature Bible stories, puppets, ventriloquism, songs and games.

Calder founded Local Church Evangelism in 1975 which has taken him and his wife, Joan, in ministry to five continents. He is a graduate of New Brunswick Bible Institute.

Music will be provided by gospel singer and recording artist Billy Speer and his wife, Paula. Speer, who lives in Orlando, Fla.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, a kids rally will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the tent site. In addition to puppets, music, Bible stories and games, there will be relays and races.
