MDI Blue blanks International

NORTHEAST HARBOR – Ewan Whitaker scored one goal and assisted on another as MDI Blue ended an unbeaten regular season with a 6-0 win over International Soccer of Orono in Central Maine Summer Soccer League action here Wednesday. John Fitzgerald, Tom Savage, Jarod Kohr, Greg Linscott, and Mike Manchester also scored goals for MDI Blue (10-0-2), which opens playoff action Sunday at home to Waterville at 2 p.m. Kevin Richards recorded his fifth shutout of the season in net for the winners. International finished 4-6-2.

Donnells beats Rockets

EAST SULLIVAN – Scott Herrick scored a pair of unassisted goals here Wednesday to spark Donnells of Ellsworth to a 3-1 victory over host Rockets in Central Maine Summer Soccer League high school division action. Andy Higgins scored a goal for the 6-6 winners. Bill Rayner tallied off a Jesse Grosjean assist for the 4-8 Rockets.

Hamel propels Bangor past Cold Stream

HOWLAND – Kevin Hamel recorded a hat trick and assisted on a pair of goals to spearhead the Bangor to a 7-3 Central Maine Summer Soccer League high school division victory over the host Cold Stream Kickers here Wednesday. Matt Parke scored two goals, Kurt Mathies and Scott Crichton one each for the 8-3-1 winners behind goalkeepers David Chaing and Joey Ouellette. Jeremy Durost contributed a goal and an assist for the 8-3 Kickers, with Brian Alley and Mike Bernard notching a goal each. Carleton Thurlow and Jamie Leveille were the goalies.
