The five-leaf clover pictured in the NEWS on Aug. 11 and referred to as a lucky find did not feel right to me.

I am a pretty fair four-leaf clover finder myself. I was taught this art by my grandmother.

When I was a youngster she taught me a couple of rules about the picking of the lucky legume. Never pick more than one a day and never pick a clover with five or six leaves as it is bad luck.

I was not surprised when I looked up clover in the World Book Encyclopedia and it stated that four-leaf clovers are believed to bring luck, and five- and six-leaf clovers bring evil. Bill Baker Bangor
