SKOWHEGAN — The Citizens for Justice and Law Reform, a splinter group of the Remember Kathy Committee, will continue their weekly rallies at the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department, said spokeswoman Gail Edwards of Athens.
Edwards said the group has reorganized and “has a broader spectrum of goals.” She said interested members met Thursday night and a statement of purpose was created and will be released Sunday. The rally will be at 1 p.m. on High Street.
“The movement here is gaining support,” said Edwards. At Sunday’s rally, she said, a family from Norridgewock will relate a situation they said occurred recently.
“The entire family was terrorized by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and the (Maine) State Police,” said Edwards.
The family contends that the police entered their home at gunpoint when responding to a domestic complaint a week ago. It was subsequently discovered that the police had the wrong home, said Edwards.
