195th Army Band to participate in Bangor-Brewer state quincentennial parade

The 195th Army Band will be among the many units marching in the Maine State Quincentennial Parade Saturday, Sept. 12, as the parade moves from Brewer to Bangor’s Civic Center. The 195th will hold a free concert at the Paul Bunyan gazebo after the parade, about 2:20 p.m.

The parade and concert will lead into the Quincentennial Mass at the Civic Center at 4 p.m. Mass will be celebrated by Joseph Gerry, Bishop of Portland, and will be followed by a social hour, banquet and dance with the Al Corey Orchestra.

Tickets to the banquet and ball must be bought in advance and none will be sold at the door. Carl Estabrooks, Quincentennial Gala chairman, said several tables are available. Sponsor of the event is the Maine State Council Knights of Columbus. Call 866-3208 for information.

A limited edition of 1,000 copies of the official 1992 Maine State Quincentennial Yearbook will be sold at the banquet, with other memorabilia.

Dress is semiformal. The banquet will feature prime rib and Irish cream pie.
