Chavarie’s goal lifts Wolverines by Pandas

LEE – Kristen Chavarie’s goal, during a scramble in front of the net with 9:54 left, helped give the visiting Schenck Wolverines of East Millinocket a hard-fought 1-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Lee Academy Pandas here Tuesday afternoon.

It was Schenck’s fourth straight one-goal victory over the Pandas. In the last 18 meeting between the schools, Schenck in 17-0-1.

For the winners, now 3-1 on the season, Keli Daigle made 12 saves on 20 shots.

For Lee, 2-2-1, Heidi Osgood stopped 10 of the 13 shots she faced.

PVHS 3, Central-EC 1

At East Corinth, Jessica Potter scored twice to key Penobscot Valley’s victory over Central.

Mandy Sage also had a goal for the 2-1 winners. In the Howland goal, Julie Delaite had eight saves on 14 shots.

For 0-3 Central, Cherie Greatorex posted 14 saves on 24 shots.

Easton 8, Bangor Chr. 0

At Easton, the Bears got three goals from Colleen Pangburn and two from Marcy Lamoreau as they registered their second win against eight losses and a tie.

Also scoring goals for Easton were Rene Chalou, Deedra Ireland and Europa Doughty.

Easton goalies were Marnie Cleaves with five saves on seven shot and Marcy Lamoreau with two saves on two shots.

Goalkeeper Erica Johnson of 0-3 Bangor Christian had a busy day with 32 saves on 42 shotis on goal.

Greenville 2, Valley 1

At Greenville, Jasmine Souther beat the goalkeeper on a direct kick from just inside the 18-yard stripe with 9:09 left in the first half, keying Greenville to victory.

Souther’s goal came only 50 seconds after Valley’s Heather Cool had tied the game at 1-1. Margaret Burns scored an unassisted goal for the 2-2 Lakers. Erin Springer made 14 saves on 20 shots.

Suzanne Vaughn set up Cool’s tally for the 2-3 Cavaliers. Kellie Sweet made 15 saves on 26 shots.

Caribou 3, Van Buren 1

At Van Buren, Tammy Thibodeau’s two goals helped lift the visiting Vikings to the victory.

Jenny Hunter added an unassisted goal for the 3-0-4 winners while Tricia Martin made eight saves on 17 shots.

Danielle Durette scored for 6-3 Van Buren while Lori Morrow had 10 saves on 14 shots.

Katahdin 0, CAHS 0 (2OT)

At Sherman Station, Central Aroostook goalie Duska Hewitt made 21 saves and Katahdin netkeeper Carrie-Jo McNally made 10 to preserve the tie for both teams.

McNally faced 10 shots for the 2-1-1 hosts and Hewitt faced 21 for CAHS of Mars Hill which finished its regular season at 9-4-1.

CAHS had a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
