Bangor ends season with 35-12 victory

Bangor closed out its Pine Tree Conference season on a winning note, while Cony of Augusta and Morse of Bath also won.

The Bangor Rams raced past Skowhegan 35-12, the Cony Rams beat Gardiner 18-7 and the Shipbuilders slipped past Brunswick 18-12 in overtime.

Bangor 35, Skowhegan 12

At Skowhegan, Rob Estey rushed for 180 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Rams defeated the Indians 35-12 the season finale.

Estey scored on a 4-yard touchdown pass and 6-yard run. Quarterback John Tennett completed nine of 19 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Tennett connected with Josh Jamieson on a 31-yard scoring strike in the second quarter and hooked up with Dean Heistand on a 9-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Eric Murray rounded out the scoring for the 5-4 Rams with a 20-yard run.

For the 0-9 Indians, Shawn Harrington scored twice on 1-yard runs while Rob Wellman led the rushing attack with 61 yards on 14 carries.

At Augusta, Mike Jowdry rolled up 130 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown jaunt, to pace the 7-2 Rams into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

Darin Dumas figured in two scoring plays, scoring on a 1-yard run and completing a 20-yard TD throw to to Todd Bernier.

Chris Whalen punched one in from a yard out for 7-2 Gardiner, which enters the playoffs as the third seed.

At Brunswick, Seth Farris went 10 yards in overtime to lift the 2-7 Shipbuilders to victory.

Neil Jacunski (33 carries, 126 yards) had a pair of 2-yard touchdown runs.

For 2-7 Brunswick, Jon Tarr scored from three yards out and Chris Nichols turned in an 11-yard TD dash.
