Two more drunken-driving charges were added Monday to the list of accusations against a Greenfield man involved in a fatal car crash in Bangor last summer.
The Penobscot County grand jury indicted 19-year-old Michael Hines on two aggravated counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Last month, he was indicted for alleged manslaughter and two other aggravated-OUI charges in connection with the July 25 collision at the intersection of Kenduskeag Avenue and Strickland Road.
The earlier indictment pertains to the death of 60-year-old Richard Hall of Guilford, the injuries that resulted in his death, and injuries to another of the three passengers in the car driven by his wife, Patricia Hall. The new charges correspond to the injuries to the remaining two passengers, Bruce Hall and Gladys Hall.
Penobscot County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy said a delay in obtaining updated medical information forced authorities to wait to bring the newer charges.
Hines reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.14, nearly twice the legal threshold, and was traveling on Kenduskeag Avenue at 40 mph (the speed limit is 30 mph) and failed to stop at a flashing red traffic light. The Halls were traveling on Strickland Road.
