Veterans Day ceremonies at museum

Bangor-Brewer Veterans Day ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Rd., with a prayer by Chaplain Andrew Gibson of the 262nd Eng. Bn., a hand bell concert by Patty Page, accompanied by Trudy Bragg, organist.

The Cole museum will be open all day fee to veterans and military personnel and their families.

The parade, sponsored by Bangor area veterans groups, will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Brewer Shopping Center parking lot, proceed down Wilson Street across the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, down Main Street to the reviewing stand at Fountain Park at Broad Street. National Guard units will be featured with color guards, Bangor High School ROTC, Maine Maritime Drill Team, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and bands from Brewer High School and Hampden Academy, and more.

A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Fountain Park, where the 195th Army Band will play the National Anthem.

At 1 p.m. Chief Justice Vincent McKusick, retired, will present the Maine Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Award to Galen Cole for his development of a vido presentation on freedom. The foundation, which counts President George Bush among its members, bestows the award each year to the outstanding individual contributing to understanding and propagation of the American Way of Life.

At 2 p.m. winners of a poster contest, What Freedom Means to Me, will receive awards.

At 2:30 p.m., the Bangor High School Band will play.

At 4 p.m. a flag ceremony will be held.
