BELFAST — Waldo County General Hospital has acquired a new chemical analyzer to complete tests on blood sugar, cholesterol and iron levels, cardiac enzymes, and kidney and liver functions.

The DuPont Dimenson is an advanced model of the hospital’s earlier one, the first of its kind in New England. The machine takes samples directly from test tubes, reducing exposure to blood-borne disease by lab technicians. The equipment allows faster test results and more efficient laboratory work.
