ORONO — The Town Council on Thursday gave its support for the Basin Mills dam project, while declining to remove an obstacle to an agreement stemming from the proposal.
While councilors approved a resolution supporting the $140 million project, which will be the subject of hearings next week, they once again tabled a measure calling for a joint agreement between the town and the Bangor Hydro Electric Co. that would allow the utility to perform favors in the town in exchange for Orono’s support for the project.
