Adams leads Hawks to win over Huskies

PITTSFIELD – Janis Adams scored 13 points to help lead the Hermon Hawks to a 54-47 Class B schoolgirl basketball upset victory over host Maine Central Institute here Monday night.

Liza Doughty had 11 points for the 6-1 Hawks.

For the 5-2 MCI Huskies, Alison Cropley scored 20 points, Emily Walker had 13, and Becky Vaughan added 10.

Kate McDunnah’s 10 points paced Bucksport. Katy Bakeman and Jen Wardwell had nine each.

FORT KENT – Candy Cullins scored 19 points here Monday night to lead Presque Isle to a 66-56 schoolgirl basketball victory over Fort Kent.

For Presque Isle, now 2-2, Renee Carter added 13 points while Sherri Scullion had 12 points. Carter and Cullins had six and five points, respectively, during the key 18-8 fourth-quarter run.

For the 2-4 Fort Kent, Michelle McBreairty had 19 points while Joy Pelletier and Heather Pelletier had 13 and 12, respectively.
