The Bangor Public Library will hold five free public humanities discussions, Encompassing Columbus, Five Italian Lives, beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the library. Other Tuesday discussions will be on Jan. 12 and 26 and Feb. 9 and 23, and March 9. Covered will be Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo Machiavelli, Isabella d’Este, Cristoforo Colombo and Francesco Petrarca.
Reserved books will be available for the discussions, led by Diane Vatne. The program is funded by the New England Foundation for the Humanities with arrangements by the library.
