DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Penquis District Boy Scout Committee met Friday, Dec. 18, at the Heath Farm in Dover-Foxcroft with Chairman James Wentworth presiding.

Howard Kesseli’s report on membership listed 135 Tiger Scouts; 265 Cub Scouts; 330 Webelos; 291 Boy Scouts; and 68 Explorer Scouts. Cynthia MacLeod will continue to work with Troop 202 in Island Falls; Wentworth with Troop 120; Robert Meade with Troop 107 in Dover-Foxcroft; and Robert Darling with Pack 110 in Sangerville. Kesseli said $11,514 of the $27,000 financial goal had been received.

Elaine Heath reported on camping and activities, stating that there are four vacancies available for the National Jamboree. Applications should be made at the Brewer office. The cost of the Boy Scout Camporee has increased. February is Scout Month, and a brief report of activities should be in the office by March 15.

Hardware items are needed for use at the camp. Donations may be made to Philip Soucie. The Scouting For Food program was well-received. Kathy Jablonski reported on training. Robert Meade reported on the camporship fund. It was voted that the money be used for the Boy Scouts. MacLeod reported on the commissioner’s staff and said that there had been meetings in the north and south. Commissioners training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at a location to be announced. Order of the Arrow Fellowship will be Jan. 15-17, at Loring Air Force Base with an election of officers.

Kesseli will make arrangements with George Cahill for the sale of the Boy Scout rifle with the price no less than $650. The annual meeting of the Katahdin Area Council is Saturday, Jan. 23, at Jeff’s Catering in Bangor.
