WATERVILLE – The Colby College Women’s Invitational Ice Hockey Tournament, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has been relocated to Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
Sports information director Andrea Solamita reported Thursday that the generator used to make ice at Colby’s Alfond Arena is not working correctly, and that the present method for maintaining the ice is by leaving the doors to Alfond Arena open.
Colby Coach Laura Halldorson’s concern for the condition of the ice prompted her to request that Bowdoin host the event, which will now be held at Dayton Arena on the Brunswick campus.
New host Bowdoin is the tournament’s defending champion.
The tournament opens Friday at 10:30 a.m. when Colby faces St. Lawrence University of Canton, N.Y.
Bowdoin takes on Brown University of Providence, R. I., at 1 p.m.
The tournament concludes on Saturday with the championship game at 3:30 p.m. and the consolation round at 6 p.m.
The championship was set for the earlier time to assist in team travel plans.
