ORONO — Ronald A. Reisinger of Rochester, N.Y., a college bookstore manager with more than 13 years’ experience, has been recommended as director of the University of Maine Bookstore. Appointment is subject to approval by the UM System board of trustees on Monday, Jan. 25.

Reisinger was recommended after a nationwide search that attracted 88 candidates. He is manager of the Monroe Community College Bookstore in Rochester, a position he has held since 1990. He was assistant manager for 11 years.

Reisinger earned a degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Brockport and an associate degree in business administration from Monroe Community College, where he also is an adjunct instructor of retail management.

Reisinger will be responsible for planning, directing, budgeting, marketing, merchandising, purchasing, computer system development, customer service and personnel management at the bookstore. The bookstore serves 12,000 students with a staff of 25. Annual gross sales exceed $5.2 million.

Reisinger replaces Sharon Cole, who worked at the bookstore since 1972 and was director from January 1985 to July 1992, when she left to pursue private business. Since then, the acting director has been Wendy Gavett.
