BIDDEFORD – Point guard Kristi Wildman scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Husson College to a 75-66 women’s basketball victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.

Vicki Mazerall and Steph Shaw added 12 points each for the 16-1 Braves, winners of 16 straight. Tracy Parker chipped in with 10 points while Darci Collins had six assists and Shaw five steals.

For the Red Knights, now 8-4, Darcie Trudeau and Maureen Cahill had 21 and 19 points, respectively, while Stacy Fondak added 11 points.

At Brunswick on Saturday, Chris Pagano fired in 26 points to help pace the Middlebury College Panthers past Bowdoin College.

For the 8-1 Vermonters, Sladja Kovijanic had 17 and Sarah Martin 14.

Bowdoin’s 4-8 Polar Bears were led by Laura Schultz, who had a game-high 29, and Lisa Morang’s 12. Airami Bogle and Jennifer Flynn had 10 each.

At Presque Isle, Kelly Picard had a triple double and led the University of Maine-Presque Isle to the victory over University of Maine-Machias.

For the 10-2 UMPI Owls, Picard had 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals. Deb Draper scored 19 points and Michelle Davis added 15. Tamara Blades had 12 points and 12 rebounds while Audra Karnes scored 12.

Becky Moholland had 22 points and 22 rebounds for the 0-13 UMM Clippers. Angela Howland scored 21 points and Joanna Wilbur added 10.

Thomas gains sweep

In a pair of games at Boston over the weekend, Thomas College stopped Suffolk Univerity 87-52 on Sunday after a 57-51 victory against Simmons College on Saturday. Thomas is now 6-9, having won its last three in a row.

In Sunday’s game, Sarah Fenderson’s long-range bombs paced the winning Terriers as she hit six 3-pointers and totaled 13 points. Mo McInnis added 18 for the Waterville crew, while Tasha Marston posted 15 and Kathleen Hogan had 14.

Maureen Brown had 18 for the 5-8 losers while Sharon Fidler had 11.

On Saturday, the Terriers led all the way in downing Simmons. Hogan topped Thomas with 18 and Fenderson had 15.

Heather Ross led the hosts with 18, Joanne Carpenter had 14 and Karen Krzywda added 11.
