MAINE vs. DARTMOUTH

Time, site: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., at Memorial Gym, Orono

Records: Maine 2-11, Dartmouth 2-11

Series: Maine leads series 4-1, with Dartmouth winning 60-55 last season.

Key players: Maine – F Heather Briggs (10.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg), F Stephanie Guidi (10.9 ppg, 6 rpg), G Stacia Rustad (7.4 ppg), C Rita Sullivan (5.1 ppg), G Chrissy Strong (4.1 ppg, 4.6 apg), Dartmouth – G Renee Reed (12 ppg, 4.6 rpg), C Ilsa Webeck (4.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg), F Laurie Stucker (11.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg), G Jen Stamp (8.1 ppg, 3.8 spg), F Brandi Jones (10 ppg)

Outlook: It’s “Pack the Pit” night at UMaine, but with a pair of 2-11 teams playing a midweek game chances are the Pit won’t be fully packed. Either way, it’ll be a much-needed homecourt advantage for the Bears as Dartmouth, which beat the Bears 60-55 last year and lost only one senior, will be bolstered by the return of two starters who have missed nine games. Reed and Webeck (6-feet-4) are both coming off stress fractures. Maine will look to continue its decent shooting while cutting down on the turnovers that plagued the Bears against Hartford on Saturday.

HUSSON vs. UM-FARMINGTON

Time, site: Tuesday, 5:30 p.m., at Newman Gym, Bangor.

Records: Husson 16-1; UMF 7-5

Key players: Husson – G Kristi Wildman (15.5 ppg), G Vicki Mazerall (14.8 ppg), F Steph Shaw (11.4 ppg), G Darci Collins (9.6 ppg), C Tara Leavitt (9.2 ppg), UMF – G Dawn Anne Higgins (17.4 ppg), G Candy Berger (13.6 ppg), G Cathy Hartman (4 ppg, 3.4 apg), F Nicole Fraser (11.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg), F Marsha Hamlin (8.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg).

Outlook: Husson has moved up to sixth in the country in the NAIA Division II ranks. No NAIA Div. II teams have fewer losses than Husson, winners of 16 straight. Wildman is having the best season of her career while Leavitt could control the inside as UMF could be without starting center Jen Daggett. Higgins and Berger will have to hit from the outside if UMF has a chance. Berger, a Limestone native, is four points away from 1,000 for her career.
