WATERVILLE – Sarah Gelman’s third goal of the game, following her rink-length rush at the 6:27 mark of the third period, broke a 4-4 tie and led the Colby College women’s hockey team to a 7-4 win over the University of Maine at Alfond Arena here Wednesday night.

WATERVILLE – Sarah Gelman’s third goal of the game, following her rink-length rush at the 6:27 mark of the third period, broke a 4-4 tie and led the Colby College women’s hockey team to a 7-4 win over the University of Maine at Alfond Arena here Wednesday night.

Elna Gordon added an insurance goal at the 13:28 mark and Anne McManus scored into an empty net to clinch it.

Christy Everett had two goals and two assists for the winners; McManus had three assists to go with her goal and Gordon and Kate Diana had assists. Goalie Alyssa Bensetler made 24 saves for the 4-9-1 winners.

Stacey Rondeau had the hat trick for 7-6 Maine; Heather Diller had the other goal and Amanda Moors had two assists. Carrie Bodwell made 46 saves.
