HERMON – Mount Desert Island upset Hermon 50-49 in a schoolgirl basketball game Friday when the host Hawks missed a chance to tie after the buzzer.
Hermon’s Liza Doughty missed the first of three free throws after she was fouled on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Doughty canned the next two, but Mount Desert Island escaped with the win.
For 8-10 MDI, Jill Pellitier led with 20 points and Anna Hathaway had 10.
Tori Adams scored 12 points for the 14-4 Hawks.
