I am writing on behalf of the Dover-Foxcroft affiliate of Literacy Volunteers. I would like to thank all of the area businesses and individuals who sponsored us and helped us accept an invitation to send two of our members to a reception at the White House.

We are small affiliate, and could never have accepted if it had not been for the support we received from our state and national Literacy Volunteers offices, and the publicity we received from the Bangor Daily News, the Piscataquis Observer, and WDME radio. Bangor Daily News Charities was also a generous sponsor of our trip, along with Stott-Flanders Post 165 of the American Legion of Guilford, the Miosac Club of Dover-Foxcroft, and the many individuals who asked to help out quietly.

All of you helped us not only to send two members to Washington, but to grow as a result of the publicity this event generated. Thanks to our sponsors, we have gained several new students, a large list of individuals wanting to be trained as tutors, and invitations to speak to several groups in the area. Our affiliate is going to be able to help a great many more people in the future because of all of you who gave us your support.
