MAINE vs. BOSTON UNIVERSITY

Time, site: Saturday, 2 p.m., Alfond Sports Arena, Orono

Records: Maine 4-15 (2-6 NAC), BU 8-11 (2-6 NAC)

Key players: Maine – F Heather Briggs (12.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg), F Stephanie Guidi (11.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg), G Stacia Rustad (6.6 ppg), C Rita Sullivan (5.6 ppg), G Chrissy Strong (4.3 ppg, 4.8 apg); Boston University – F Jill Sosnak (14.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg), F Annemarie Olson (13.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg), G Andrea Higgins (11.7 ppg, 6.4 apg), F Julie Schmidt (11.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg), G Sara Coleman (7.3 ppg)

Outlook: Black Bears have lost four of last five while Terriers have played .500 ball over last six games. One of those contests was a 61-52 BU win in Boston. Guidi is averaging 16.3 ppg over the last three games for the Bears while Briggs has to increase her scoring from the perimeter. Maine’s entire offense, averaging a woeful 55.7 ppg, must score more points. Maine must also get point production from players other than Briggs and Guidi. Maine’s Strong must contain Higgins, one of the NAC’s top playermakers.
