MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Carol Thomas’ goal with 1:09 left in overtime gave Bowdoin College a 5-4 win over Colby College in Sunday’s championship game of the Middlebury College Women’s Hockey Tournament here over the weekend.

Thomas’ goal was assisted by Michel Phaneuf and Nan Gorton, both of whom also had a goal in the winning effort. Carey Jones and Anne Read added a goal each while Thomas had three assists. Dagan Klein made 31 saves for the winners, now 9-5.

Sarah Gelman had two goals and Laura Iorio had a goal and an assist for Colby, 6-12-1. Lyndsay Griffeth also had a goal. Alyssa Bensetler had 47 saves.

Colby had beaten McGill 3-1 while Bowdoin bested host Middlebury 3-2 in first-round games.

For Colby, Griffeth, Christy Everett, and Sarah Gelmen had goals. Bensetler had 32 saver.
