HUSSON vs. ST. JOSEPH’S

Time, site: Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., at Newman Gym, Bangor.

Records: Husson 21-1; St. Joseph’s 21-3.

Key players: Husson – G Vicki Mazerall (15 ppg), G Kristi Wildman (14.9 ppg), F Steph Shaw (10.9), C Tara Leavitt (10.2 ppg), G Darci Collins (9.8 ppg); St. Joseph’s – C Sharon Rines (18.2 ppg), F Jill Bourget (11.1 ppg), G Sheri McCarthy (10.7 ppg), F Danielle Bouchard (10.7 ppg), G Neile Joler (7.8 ppg).

Outlook: Second matchup of NAIA District 5 archrivals, coming more than one month after Husson posted a 70-67 victory at St. Joe’s. It was the Monks last lost. They’ve won 12 straight since. Husson, meanwhile, is still riding a 21-game winning streak. Rines is coming off a 31-point performance against Thomas College and is playing the best basketball of her career. Husson must contain her while also pressuring the Monks’ ball-handling. Leavitt, a freshman and Husson’s only real height, must play well, as she did at SJC.
