NAIA Div. II National Tournament

HUSSON vs. INDIANA TECH

Time, site: Saturday, 6 p.m. (EST), Western Oregon State College, Monmouth, Ore.

Records: Husson, 27-2; Indiana Tech, 25-4

Key players: Husson – G Kristi Wildman (15.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg), G Vicki Mazerall (15.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg), G Darci Collins (10.6 ppg, 4 apg), C Tara Leavitt (10.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg), F Steph Shaw (8.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg); Indiana Tech – C Terri Lydy (23.6 ppg, 12.1 rpg), F Nadine Worden (12.6 ppg), G Holly Turner (10.3 ppg, 7.0 apg), C Deb Sigmond (14.4 ppg), F LaTasha Boyd (5.5 ppg).

Outlook: Warriors of Indiana Tech have won 11 straight and boast an NAIA Div. II first-team All-American in Lydy, a 6-foot senior. The smaller Braves must stop her while not getting off to a slow start which hampered them in second-round game against Sterling. Indiana Tech’s starters account for 67 of team’s 77 points-per-game scoring average. If Husson can get the Warriors tired so the bench has to come into play, the Braves could be Final Four bound.
