Apprentice tops St. Joseph’s 3-0

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Apprentice School scored three runs in the first inning and went on to ruin the season-opener of St. Joseph’s College with a 3-0 baseball victory here Monday.

The Monks of Standish committed five errors in the first inning as Apprentice scored three unearned runs. Apprentice is now 4-5.

St. Joe’s junior righthander Chris Esmond was the hard-luck loser as he allowed only three hits while striking out five and not walking a batter. Russell Ogilvie had an RBI double and Shane O’Connell had an RBI single.
