BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

Congratulations to Robin Duplisea on her outstanding performance as acting chairman of the MSAD 48 directors on March 16. What a marked improvement from meetings I have attended in the past. It was refreshing to observe someone other than Superintendent Ray Freve control a meeting. Mrs. Duplisea’s years of experience, dedication, and genuine interest shone through. The entire board seemed alive with questions and comments and overall seemed more involved than in the past. …

We have in place a board with some new faces, new ideas, and new viewpoints. The board presently seated, unfortunately has to deal with the “leftover” old business. I am confident they are just the group to listen, to use their own judgment, and to do exactly what they were elected to do. I hope they are successful in putting the public back in our public school system.

I trust they will respect the wishes of the taxpayers who elected them to oversee our children’s education, and in the bargain, gain back the confidence and credibility that has been lost. My hope for the board presently seated is that they never again be presented with a petition signed by 300 frustrated taxpayers and that they insist on accountability from the present administration.
