Now that most of the Legislature has had its fun, thumbed its nose at the taxpayers, and gone back to business as usual, who is going to pay for this preventable fiasco that disrupted the state of Maine for two months? Could everyone who approved of the whole affair send in a dollar each to help defray expenses?

Perhaps we could have a lottery on the total amount of money (salaries, expenses, etc.) that this circus cost us. Or could we cut back on tax money to alcoholism rehabilitation since trying to get people to take advantage of it isn’t the “kind” thing to do? There needs to be an answer to this problem because it ain’t over until the bills are paid. Bessie H. Hersom Camden
