SAD 48 program receives 200 books

NEWPORT — SAD 48’s Migrant Education Program is the recipient of 200 books through the Reading Is Fundamental program.

The paperbooks, by established authors of fact and fiction, are given to the students in the Migrant Education program in the district. A total of 107 students from preschool to kindergarten through eighth grade received the books free of charge at schools in Corinna, Newport, St. Albans, Palmyra and Hartland.

The RIF program is centered at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Migrant Education Program funds across the country fund RIF book projects. In Maine, the Portland News Co. shares the cost of RIF books.
