HARRINGTON – Robbie Worcester smacked a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead host Narraguagus to a 3-2 baseball victory over Calais here Wednesday.

Dan Curtis, who pitched a five-hitter, striking out seven and walking two. He aided his own cause with a run-scoring single. Peter Joyce and Mickey Willey had singles for the 3-2 Knights.

For the 4-2 Blue Devils, Paul Napoleoni had a solo home run and a single while Chris Sherrard had a double. Tough-luck loser Jamie Farrar, who gave up just four hits, fanned two and walked five.

Houlton 5, Madawaska 3

At Madawaska, Travis Beaton struck out 10, walked nine, and pitched a seven-hitter to lead the Houlton Shiretowners to the win.

For the 2-3 Shiretowners, Mike Henderson hit a two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh to score the winning run. Henderson also singled.

Marc Hebert hit a two-run single for the 0-3 Owls.

At Fort Fairfield, John Smith scored the winning run in the sixth inning after being caught in a rundown to give Limestone the close win.

Smith evaded the tag by the catcher thanks to a bad relay throw. For the 4-0 Eagles, Ryan Sharts singled twice and Matt Shaw added a two-run single. Robert McDougal pitched an eight-hitter for the win.

For the 2-2 Tigers, Shawn Rogers doubled and singled for two RBIs. Shawn Willette doubled in a run. Kirk DeMerchant also doubled.

At Jonesport, the Royals scored 21 first-inning runs en route to their fourth win in as many games.

The game was called after three innings by mutual consent of the coaches.

Jason Harmon had a double and two singles and drove in two runs to pace Jonesport-Beals’ 19-hit attack. Jeffrey Alley doubled and singled and drove in two runs with Darren Alley, Tony Beal, Braden Alley and Cecil McDonald collecting two base hits apiece.

The three Alleys each knocked in two runs.

At Fort Kent, Bob Raymond had two singles and an RBI to pace a patient Fort Kent offense as the host Warriors evened their record at 2-2.

Fort Kent hitters drew 14 walks in the game, to go along with their eight hits. Thurston Voisine posted a run-scoring triple and Laughn Berthiaume doubled.

For Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook, now 5-2, Kyle Fox had a two-run home run.

At Mars Hill, Ron Plante had a two-run home run, an RBI double, and a single to lead the 3-1 Hornets to the victory.

Andrew Sjogren added a triple for Ashland.

For the host Panthers of Central Aroostook, Jeremy York had a two-run single while Adrian Hitz tripled. Matt Townsend added a single.

At East Machias, Aaron Newman fashioned a two-hitter as Sumner of East Sullivan downed host Washington Academy.

Newman struck out eight batters and walked two for the 3-2 Tigers while Wally Coombs added a single and a double. Newman also enjoyed a big day at the plate with two doubles and three RBI.

Brendon Cates led the 2-3 Raiders, collecting a single and driving in a run.

At St. Agatha, Jason Poitras’ squeeze bunt in the eighth inning scored Tom Power and broke a 7-7 tie as the Crusaders rallied to defeat the Pioneers.

Ben Smith collected two hits and drove in three runs for the 3-0 Crusaders while Cory Seales added a single, double, and drove in a run.

Glen Paradis led the 0-3 Pioneers with two RBI while Chad Morneau added a double.

At Eastport, Machias took advantage of 13 walks issued by Shead pitching as the Bulldogs routed the Tigers in a game called as a result of the 12-run rule.

Mike Lenfesty and Troy Dennison each collected two hits and drove in two runs for the 1-3 Bulldogs while Aaron Coffin picked up the win in relief.

Aaron Urquhart and Darrin Turner’s singles accounted for the only two Tiger hits.
