PRESQUE ISLE — Jacqueline Christnot of Presque Isle and Charlene Dyer of Washburn, Upward Bound participants at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, have been selected to represent the state at the National Student Leadership Congress in Washington, D.C., from June 19 to 23.

The students will stay at the American University campus. The program of activities will include a reception for delegates on Capitol Hill, meetings with Maine congressional delegates, a workshop on negotiating skills by the Harvard Negotiation Project staff, and a workshop on diversity by the Points of Light organization.

The Upward Bound Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is designed to assist students in their academic preparation for post-secondary education.
