Workshop planned on faux finishes

ROCKLAND — Jip Pruden, owner of Davis Point Designs, will present a one-day workshop on faux finishes, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the Farnsworth Museum.

Pruden’s specialty is decorative painting and finishes, custom lettering and gold leaf work, and miniatures and doll houses. His workshop and studios are in Cushing.

During this daylong workshop, participants will learn about faux finishes including: marbleizing, crackle, porphyry, and gilding.

The morning portion of the workshop will focus on finishes and materials needed to create them. In the afternoon, participants will create marbleized panels.

A faux finishes kit will be provided to each participant. Cost of the workshop, including materials and faux kit, is $60 for members, $65 for non-members. Advance registration is required in person at the museum’s front desk or by mail. The addresss is P.O. Box 466, Rockland 04841.
