Schoolgirl softball

HAMPDEN – Kristen Card doubled twice and singled to pace the Brewer Witches to a 13-2 schoolgirl softball win over Hampden Academy here Wednesday.

Emily Burrill singled three times for the 13-1 Witches and Denise Hewes doubled and singled. Jana Bishop pitched a four-hit victory.

For the 8-7 Broncos, Jen Craig singled twice.

Dexter 9, Ellsworth 6

At Ellsworth, a three-run rally in the seventh fueled by three hits, a walk, and a throwing error gave Dexter a victory over Ellsworth.

Tammy Paige and Tammy Downing each hit an RBI single for the 7-7 Dexter Tigers. Marlene Carnes pitched an eight-hitter for the win.

For the 7-8 Eagles, Robin Kuhn singled twice and tripled, Rebecca Stanley singled twice, and Shannon Hamilton hit a two-run triple.

Old Town 23, Nokomis 4

At Old Town, Becky Blue tripled twice, doubled, singled twice, and drove in four runs to lead the Old Town Indians to the win over Nokomis of Newport.

Ronni Sagner hit three singles to pace the 11-4 Indians. Lisa Ackley notched the win.

For the 1-13 Warriors, Vivian Davis singled twice.

At Searsport, Jen Russ fired her second career no-hitter, striking out seven, and Bree Robert drove in five runs with a homer and two singles as the Vikings improved to 11-3.

Joy Richard added two doubles and a single for Searsport. Kelley Fields drove in three runs and had a single.

For Deer Isle-Stonington, 3-11, Katy Wiberg took the pitching loss.

At Blue Hill, Linda Schneider drove in three runs with a pair of singles and Jada Fontaine pitched a two-hitter, striking out 10, as George Stevens finished the regular season at 10-6.

Jamie Bowden slugged a two-run triple and singled for George Stevens, while Cara Carter added two singles.

For MDI, 6-9, Heather McDaniel and Ann Witte singled.

At Husson’s field in Bangor, Heather Pace doubled and singled twice and Wendy Davis hurled a seven-hitter as the Hawks improved to 9-6.

D.J. Glazier added four singles for Hermon.

For John Bapst, 4-11, Camilla Moore doubled and singled.

At Greenville, Nancy Murray’s run-scoring single proved to be the game-winner as the Lakers struck for 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Valley of Bingham.

Hope Walden led the 9-5 Lakers with two singles, a triple, and two RBIs. Traci Morrell added two singles and three RBI while Erin McIver collected two singles and two RBIs.

Bridget Paddock paced the 1-10 Cavaliers with a single, double, and an RBI. Lisa Poulin had two singles.
