ORONO – Mark Thibodeau’s single off the pitcher’s foot into left field plated Jim Evans from second base in the fifth inning, delivering the winning run for the Old Town-Orono Twins, who posted a 3-2 win over Skowhegan in American Legion baseball action at Orono High School Thursday.
Andy Trice had given Old Town-Orono (8-1) a 2-0 lead with his two-run double with two out in the second inning. Trice also singled. Pitcher Nate Ballard went the distance for the Twins, striking out five.
For Skowhegan (6-2), Nate Jewell slapped an RBI single.

At Calais, Tony Fernandez hit a two-run homer in the fifth, doubled twice, singled, and drove in five runs to lead Bangor past host Sherman Brothers.
For 5-4 Bangor, Matt Kinney pitched a seven-hitter for the win. Mark Reed hit a solo home run in the sixth and singled for three RBIs. Justin Shaw doubled and singled.
Brian Chamberlain had three singles and two RBIs for 2-5 Sherman Brothers. Derek Armstrong singled twice.
