Little League All-Stars begin tourney play today

A rematch between the two teams that met in last year’s Penobscot Division championship game of the District 3 Little League All-Star playoffs highlights Monday’s schedule as local All-Star teams begin their quest for a trip to Williamsport, Pa.

Bangor West will travel to Taylor Field to take on Bangor East. The East squad beat the West 9-8 to win two of three games against the West and take the Penobscot Division title last year.

Other games on Monday’s schedule include Houlton at Border in Monticello, Loring-Limestone at Katahdin of Sherman Station, and Bucksport at Old Town.

All games except Houlton-Border will start at 5:30 p.m. The Houlton-Border game will start at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Millinocket will travel to Bar Harbor to play Acadia, Coastal will play at Dalton Field in Brewer, Calais will play at Machias, and the winner of the Bangor West-Bangor East game will take on Hampden.

District 2 will begin its playoff action Wednesday with Belfast at Waldoboro, Camden vs. Waldo County at Brooks, and Rockland at Damariscotta. The starting time for all games is 5:30 p.m.
