EASTPORT — The future economic growth of communities in Washington County will highlight discussion at the Washington County Regional Planning Commission’s 25th annual summer meeting Friday, July 16, at Rolando’s Italian Harborview Restaurant.

A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7:30 p.m. A supper at 6:30 p.m. may be ordered from the menu, with each person paying for his or her own meal.

Following the business session and election of officers for the executive committee, a general discussion on economic growth in the county will be held, with the region’s legislative delegation invited to attend.

A full commission meets twice a year, approving a yearly budget in January and electing officers in July. There are usually 24 member towns who pay dues of 50 cents per capita to the WCRPC commission. Each town has two town-appointed representatives who may vote in the full-commission meetings. A quorum is 25 percent of the towns represented. The public and other town officials are invited to attend, but only the appointed representatives may vote in the business meeting.

For information and to make reservations for the summer meeting, call Glenn Avery at 255-8686.
