NEWPORT — The Friends of the Newport Public Library will hold their Annual Art Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Grange Hall on Main Street.

All amateur artists in the area, age 18 and older, are invited to display their art. No more than two pieces from each artist will be allowed because of lack of space.

All pieces must be at the hall between 9 a.m. and noon on Aug. 13. Art work must be picked up on Aug. 14 between 4 and 5 p.m. All pieces must be marked with a price, if for sale.

A People’s Choice Award of $25 will be given by the Friends organization; also, a William Henry Earle Memorial Award of $100, made possible through the generosity of Harry Woodward Earle, Rosemary Earle Middeleer and Everett Sanborn. Both of these awards will be presented to the winners at a reception at the Newport Public Library at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22. All artists who participated in the art festival are invited to attend.

Participants are encouraged to register early for the festival at the public library to reserve space. For more information, call the library at 368-5074 or Tillie Burke at 368-5229.
