A 22-year-old Old Town man was indicted Monday for allegedly setting fire last month to his former girlfriend’s home.

The Penobscot County grand jury charged Shawn Arguin with arson in connection with the mid-July fire that forced Kelly Collins and her 11-year-old daughter from their home at 26 Penobscot St., Old Town.

Investigators said the fire was started by a container of gasoline that was ignited and thrown through the window of an enclosed front porch. According to court documents, Arguin confessed.
