BELFAST – Auburn Suburban downed Waldo County 10-3 behind a Rob Washington four-hitter here Friday to earn a berth opposite Bangor West in the Little League state finals.

A win in Saturday’s 10 a.m. contest would give undefeated Bangor West the state crown, while Auburn Suburban would have to defeat Bangor West twice to gain the title. A second game would be played at noon Saturday.

Washington struck out 10, walked five and helped his own cause with a double and two singles. Shortstop Vinnie Charantona added four singles, drove in three runs and scored three times, while Mike Reid had a double, a single and three RBIs.

Nate Hall stroked an RBI single for Waldo County, while Nate Drummon had an RBI fielder’s choice and a single. Starting pitcher Randy Abbott struck out eight batters.
